Advantages of different ACS systems

Access control systems consist of several mandatory components:

  • barrier device that prevents from entering the facility without obligatory identification;
  • ID card, which certifies the identity and enables to pass to the facility;
  • reader that accepts ID code;
  • controller to analyze ID code and determine if a person is authorized to access the facility.

Today, there exist three key types of access control systems, each offering its specific benefits.

Automatic ACS systems are as simple and convenient to use as possible. Company employees or office staff obtain ID cards, which automatically unlock the barrier.

The key advantages of automatic access control systems are their low cost and ease of installation.

Network ACS systems are synchronized with security cameras, fire safety systems, allowing to configure access according to a schedule.

The prime advantage of the network access control system is a large service area. In addition, network ACS systems provide information about the company’s employees by person, allowing to track the hours spent by each employee at work.

Biometric ACS systems ensure the maximum level of protection for the facility, as the access is authorized only to the staff, which biometric parameters match those entered in the database. It is impossible to fake fingerprints or iris pattern.

The advantage of the biometric access control system is its high reliability and 100% security guarantee. However, this type of ACS system has not yet gone mainstream and remains relatively expensive, so it is applied at facilities with high security requirements.
